Listing of Impairments
The Listing of Impairments are a set of specific conditions or diseases which, when present, are supposed to allow an immediate approval of a disability claim. For each condition or disease, there are rules requiring certain medically documented evidence that a claimant must have to meet the Listing of Impairment. These rules are very specific and are considered at Step 3 of the Adjudication process for SSD and SSI claims.
These “Listing of Impairments” cover all major body systems and diseases including mental disorders.
Additionally, there are separate “Listing of Impairment” rules for adults and claimants under the age of 18.
